Structural-Health-Monitoring-Oriented Finite Element Model for a Specially Shaped Steel Arch Bridge and Its Application

To rigorously evaluate the health of a steel bridge subjected to vehicle-induced fatigue, both detailed numerical model and effective fatigue analysis methods are needed. In this paper, process for establishing structural monitoring (SHM)-oriented finite element (FE) assessing damage is presented large, specially shaped arch bridge. First, meticulously modeled using multiple FEs facilitate exploration local behavior. Second, manual tuning updating conducted according modal parameters measured at bridge’s location. Since comprises large number FEs, two surrogate-model-based employed update model. Third, established models validated by them predict structure’s mode shapes actual behavior case in which whole static vehicle loads. Fourth, model, new method based on high-circle accumulation theory further analyze The results indicate that indispensable SHM-oriented FE with erroneous configurations, one effective. addition, it shown applicable real-world engineering cases.
